Arieh Lubin was born in 1897 in Chicago, USA. He received a Jewish education, and at the age of 16 he was sent by his father to study at the Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium in Tel Aviv. In 1914 he returned to the United States and continued his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1918 he volunteered in the Jewish Legion, where he met painters Menachem Shemi and Nachum Gutman. At the end of the war he completed his studies in Chicago and later in England, Belgium and Paris. In 1923 he immigrated to Palestine and participated in a group exhibition at the Tower of David, Jerusalem. In 1947 he exhibited his solo-show at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Moreover, he participated at the Venice Biennale on three occasions, and was one of the founders of the Safed Artists Colony. He died in 1980 in Tel Aviv.
